In 2001 brothers Billy and Bruce Jeansonne founded our first incarnation, Vintage Drummer which began as a newsletter, then grew into a magazine format.  Vintage Drummer would go on to host a series of vintage drum shows in the Atlanta area before changing its name to Classic Drummer Magazine in 2005 as it changed its focus toward artists of any era who played in a feel-based classic style.  In 2009 while covering a Pete Best show in Atlanta, Billy met drummer Steve Bryant whose band was the opening act.  At that show, he presented Steve with a copy of Classic Drummer and from that point on Steve was hooked.  Since his day job was as the owner of a multi-media production and distribution company, Steve approached Billy about moving the publication from a print model to a more computer, smartphone and tablet-friendly digital format, using print as a secondary medium.  In 2013 Steve purchased Classic Drummer on the condition that Billy would stay involved. 

The magazine is home to The Classic Drummer Hall of Fame which has honored scores of music's most influential drummers since its inception and can be found at classicdrummerhalloffame.com. In the fall of each year readers, artists and colleagues are invited to cast their votes via digital ballot and thousands of votes are cast each year.  Today, with partners Kevin Bryant and Ron Tongue, along with creative designer Melissa Bryant and content developer Michael Vosbein, Classic Drummer Magazine continues to help musics most influential drummers share their stories.
